Hi Jack, I just downloaded a video on your blog with Jane talking. I liked her, tell me about her.

You mean you're not her?

What did you want to know? What she does, or just her mother's maiden name and social security number?

I think if I'm going to talk about someone else, I need to know a little about who I'm talking to, Ms/Mr anonymous...

Do you know her mother's maiden name? No only joking. I'd like to know about what you think about her. I have my own feelings about her. She told me about you. What can I tell you?

So...who are you? You'll have to email me if we're going to talk more. I need to know you're not an axe murderer or stalker.

Besides, what does it matter what I think of another person? Why let what one person says about another influence you?

I can't put my opinions about someone down on this blog. Not when they're intimate, and there's some kind of common thing going on. As we both know her, it's only going to be something resembling gossip.

Drop me an email.

Unless you are Jane, of course...

Ho ho ho!

Well, there's a problem, see, if you are Jane. Because Jane wanted no more contact ever, then I have to stick to that. If she decides to change her mind, how am I supposed to deal with that? Am I expected to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants? Nah, that can't work, otherwise I'd be a wimp. She has to be aware of the consequences of decisions, and realise that when you say "never" it has to mean that, otherwise you're jerking a person around, right?

I was quite happy to have been Jane's friend, because I really thought that we touched on some very important personal issues, and we had the opportunity to learn and grow from studying our own personal beliefs and such. That was what was so valuable about the filming we did together. Underneath all the pain was the chance to look at it objectively, but she couldn't see that, and so made the decision that we couldn't be friends. Much of the relationship was actually great and quite hilarious at times. But there was a severe boundary issue. I think we could have done some really brilliant work together as actors, but the opportunity was lost, which is a real shame.

But then life is a shame, sometimes, isn't it? How many of us live lives that might have been very different had just half a dozen synapses fired in our brains in different ways at different times?

Life is a series of decisions that lead us on roads that we have very little understanding of.

It's all quite romantic and fun, when you look at it that way, eh, anonymous?

Interesting subtext. But what do you really feel?

Listen, forget it. I just thought it might be fun. But you seem a bit upset so I'm really sorry I bothered you. All the best.

But I still never did know who you are. Look, if you're Jane, email me for an application form and I'll consider being your friend again.

It may take a little time to process, though.

Shall I post another video of Jane and me? I have a great one of us in Las Vegas. In character, playing Vinnie and Rita...

It's a coincidence, but I was actually talking about Jane to a friend recently and saying how we could have done some really good work together as actors, except silly crap got in the way. It's ironic that we were actually so near to something quite good artistically, because we were so involved in characterisation, that it encroached on our actual selves. I do believe had there been a better grasp of boundaries we could have made an excellent film of Vinnie and Rita and other characters.

Yeah I'd love to see Vinnie and Rita. I heard about those characters. Wasn't Vinnie a bit of a miserable bastard?!

Jack Lee said...

Yeah, he was a bit of a c**t

But she was a clingy old cow. Drove him up the wall.

I'm doing a bunch of video editing this weekend, and filming a wedding, also doing a workshop. Will edit and post some footage from Vinnie and Rita's trip some time next week.

By the way, you should get rid of AOL. They're lousy.
