I'm just thinking about the sexuality of American women, and why it is I haven't generally had such a great experience with American women.
I think it's a lot to do with the competitive aspect of the American psyche. Americans are naturally competitive and entrepreneurial; they're capitalists, too, and that means they see relationships in terms of power deals, rather than as a sharing thing. Fairness isn't really the objective in any American relationship: the idea is to see what you can get out of the relationship from the standpoint of power and control. Get more power or money, and you've won, as it were.
Rather than entering an intimate relationship with the attitude of openness and love, the average American woman will see it as a business deal: she'd see herself as the prize or object, rather than a person who wants and needs companionship. That's why so many American women end up as trophy wives - they set themselves up as trophies for "winners". They'll play a bunch of guys to see who has the most to offer. Whether or not she loves him is irrelevant - she's already objectified herself, and so can never find intimacy. After all, how can she know who she is when she's playing a role?
In a society where one of the biggest insults you can call a man is a "loser", what can you expect but the phenomenon of the trophy wife, and the self objectifying woman?
