Fritz Perl wrote this piece a few years back. It's known as the Gestalt prayer. It's the most powerful thing I've found with regard to human relationships and the responsibility and expectations that we sometimes unwisely attach to them:
I do my thing, and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations
and you are not in this world to live up to mine.
I am me and you are you
And if by chance we find each other that's beautiful
If not, it can't be helped.
