Self indulgence

Someone commented that this blog was self indulgent.

Is it?

Who are you to say? Because you don't "indulge" yourself in the same way? That someone dumped some shame on you that's told you all your life that such things were bad or wrong or selfish?

Why do some people have such issues about self indulgence, as if it were some crime? Or that indulgence was something that needed to be rationed; measured out in careful doses administered by a doctor or moral banker?

How odd it is that there's shame around self indulgence for some people. As if duty towards others were all there was, and duty to self was insignificant.

Is it any wonder that people burn out, or become embittered?

It's like the people who go on about narcissism, as if nercissism wasn't some very natural and important stage in life, or a time for self discovery and healing. Fuck those who knock narcissism. They're only bound by shame, all of thmem.

I fly the flag of self indulgence for all!

And I thoroughly recommend it.

There isn't a big enough bucket in the world to carry all the shame you feel. I wish you well and hope the load becomes lighter. Even though you're a complete cunt I'm sure we'd get on well over a few beers.
