The self fulfilling prophesy

Self fulfilling prophesies are funny things.

I mean, look what's going on with a self fulfilling prophesy: it's a belief system carried through to the bitter end, isn't it?

I wonder how many people miss out on things that they're suspicious of as being "too good to be true", for example, purely because their cynicism stops them from ever going further?

Our belief systems trap us into repeating the same patterns in life over and over and over again.

If we believe, for example, that people aren't to be trusted, isn't it inevitable that we'll never find someone we can trust, because we'll always be looking for, and expecting that they're going to do something had. And it's inevitable that the moment we really need to go that last little bit further, past the old belief system, that it's most scary of all.

But it really is our belief systems that create our reality, good or bad. This is one of the basic tenets of metaphysics.
