Synchronicity

I read Jung's book, Synchronicity, some years ago, and had some pretty bizarre experiences around it.

In the book, Jung mentions that coincidences, peculiarly, seem to occur more when there's a symbol of a fish involved. I suggest you read the book if you want to explore this phenomenon. Here's a link to a definition and explanation about synchronicity: http://www.crystalinks.com/synchronicity.html

I'd talk about it more now, but I've suddenly got a wave of tiredness, and have to go back to bed. I woke up at 3 am to post the last few posts. I need more sleep!

Briefly, though, I've heard it said before that coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous. Synchronicity's something that Julia Cameron explores in The Artist's Way. More about all this later.

Up again, and I can talk a little more about it. I decided some time ago to follow synchronicities, as I believe they're anonymous gifts from the universe (or God, if you want to call it that word - some don't and I understand why)

I guess I got onto the post about the nazi and fascism and intolerance because of the little fish coincidence of the photo at the lake earlier in the blog. As I said, I'd just that moment taken a photo of the homeless plaque when the guy caught the fish. He was one of two fellows who are from South Africa, and we got onto the subject of South African politics, Nelson and Willie Mandela, and the situation there in Africa now, which is pretty bleak, dangerous and unsettled for whites and blacks alike.

What was interesting was that there were a series of posters right behind us relating to a current series of exhibitions in Austin on coexistence and racial, religious, sexual tolerance and so on. Coexistence is what it's all about, after all, isn't it? It's the freedom that George Bush is always on about, isn't it?

Ironically, though, we (myself and the South African) thought it rather bizarre that there's a curfew in the park in Austin after 10pm. Where's the freedom there? I just think it so odd that one can't go to certain public places at night in America. I mean, what are they afraid will happen?

Maybe I need to start a wonderfully thought provoking post about freedom in the USA. I'm sure I can walk more freely in Britain, that's a fifth of the size as Texas alone, and has far more people per capita than America will ever have. It's all the land rights dating back to the Magna Carta, when the public were given access to private land. No such thing in the USA.

But I digress.

I believe that synchronicity is something to do with mathematics and the links that occur across spacetime between apparently acausal events. That might not make sense to some, but I think it's something like where the scienctific reality of the phenomenon explains it.

Higher dimensional mathematics goes to show us that there are dimensions that our intellect can't grasp hold of. We can't picture a further dimension, so we can only experience its effects.

To try to explain, understand first the principle of lower dimensional relationships: we have a point in space, then a line, then a plane (two dimensional object), then a three dimensional object. A good analogy is a cube, which has 12 edges, 6 surfaces and one solid. It consists of six 2-dimensional squares.

A hypercube, on the other hand, is a series of cubes in spacetime. Mathematically, hypercubes (and other hyperobjects) exist. We, as simple three dimensional human beings, only see a single cube at a time. We don't know if a cube is part of a hypercube, such as a square is a part of a cube, or if the cube is simply a cube, as an independent square is just a square.

I believe that there are just some events that exist in this way. They extend beyond the lower dimensions of our reality and into a spiritual, or at least "something else" one. I've had very real experiences of synchronicity in my life, using meditative devices and occult practices. These things are very, very real. Not absolutely explicable, but very real phenomena. The mind, I feel certain, exists in a dimension that we generally fail to understand. The brain is simply a radio transmitter and receiver.

One of the reasons I became so interested in sychronicity and psychic phenomena was my father's story of his experience on the day of his brother's death. He says he knew the exact moment that his brother was killed, and that he spoke to him, there and then. Psychic phenomena between siblings, lovers, twins and such have been reported over and over again. I believe that's because when we have common thoughts, or common experiences we resonate somehow across spacetime and the universal mind. We are all connected. Of that, there is absolutely no doubt. It's only the illusion that we aren't that leads to the problems.

But then, as I touched on, there are the problems that we're here to solve on this planet, in this life.

At least that's what I can only suppose.

More about synchronicity later.Posted by Hello
