The Journey of the Wounded Healer.

A couple of years ago I got turned on to the work of Alex Grey, who does the most wonderful paintings, in my opinion, of human beings; but in a way that looks at what we are beyond our fleshy image. This one is called "The Journey of the wounded healer", and it's become something of a symbol for me, lately. The image of the "wounded" healer really emphasizes that we're not perfect in this life. Life isn't about perfection, and can't be. And that means we can't wait until the perfect time to act, in whatever it is that we do.

As my dear friend Jemima said "Perfection is worthless". And how right she is. That's an extremely valuable lesson I've been learning from the Artist's Way course, again.

Jemima is a bereavement counsellor and midwife/dula. As she puts it, she's "there at the beginning and the end of it all"

Check out the Alex Grey website. There's a link at the side of this blog. Within the site is something called "The Chapel of Mirrors", which is a remarkable piece. A homage to spirit and humanity, in my opinion... Posted by Hello
